Slow Cooker Steel Cut Oatmeal
Ingredients
2 apples, peeled and cored, diced
2 cups fat-free milk
4 cups water
1 1/2 cup uncooked steel cut oats
3 teaspoons vanilla extract
2 teaspoons cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon allspice
Directions
Coat inside of 3-1/2 quart (or larger) slow cooker with cooking spray or use a non-stick insert in your slow cooker.
Peel, core and dice the apples. Put into the slow cooker. Add remaining ingredients to slow cooker. Stir, cover, and cook on low for approx. 5-7 hours or high for 4 hours.
Spoon oatmeal into bowls; add optional toppings, such as almonds, nut butter, seeds or fresh fruit and a drizzle of honey.
